True a car was in some cases used as a promotion. I think the reason for the long time to build was the quality of the hand built car. but as you said there was a lot to that transaxle.
I had heard that Alco would give cars to people who ordered their railroad engines. I saw on OldMotor.com a photo of the rear transaxle. This may be part of the reason it took so long to build the rear. Thanks for the interesting look at early cars, Al.
