Pic-A-Day (35) Albert Mach Fine Art.

1900-02 image of a Mobile Steam car and a 1900 image of the Locomobile

Here are two historic images from the turn of the century (twentieth).

There also is a picture of the Mobile Auto Factory, and a historic advertising page from Mobile.

According to http://www.virtualsteamcarmuseum.org/makers/mobile_company_of_ameri...:

The Mobile Company was founded by J. B. Walker, who, together with A. Lorenzo Barber, had acquired the Stanley patents. After a disagreement Barber left to make the Locomobile at Bridgeport, Conn., while Walker retained the former Stanley works at Tarrytown where he made the Mobile.

At first this was almost identical with the Locomobile, and differences were restricted to body styles. Mobile offered as many as 20 different models in 1902, and 15 in 1903, by which time about 6,000 vehicles had been made. They ranged from a $550 Runabout, which was one of the cheapest American steamers, to a $3,000 enclosed limousine, which was one of the most expensive.

Wikipedia said:

The Mobile Company of America was a U.S. steam automobile manufacturer founded in 1899 by John B. Walker after a fallout with businessman Amzi L. Barber, whose financing had earlier allowed Walker to purchase the now well-known Stanley Steamer concern. By 1903, the Mobile Company of America was out of business, while Barber's Locomobile Company of America abandoned steam car production in 1901 in favor of petrol-engined vehicles, selling the Stanley brothers back their factory and steam engine patents for $20,000 despite having originally paid $250,000 for the operation.
